PONG Reference

For our programming class we are creating a retro game. The one that me and my team mate Danny choose is Pong. Looking at pong, one can assume that visually it has simplistic style. Since we have to create similar mechanics in the new Unreal Engine 4. I observed the above video to see what are the attributes and mechanics involved. There's one simple mechanic in pong  which is;  YOU as an individual has to win against your friend or rival. The game dictates that each player controls a  paddel and has to out maneuver  the other  by using startergies and wits.  the player to score 10 points first wins. Elements in Pong: If we convert the materials used in pong to  unreal engine, I could point out that using 2 physical materials 1 on the floor and other on the walls and  paddels, we can give the same effect as an actual pong. Programming aspect. The main programming aspect comes into play in the following : 1.Score counter...

Attract Trailer- Inspiration

For my inspiration for my level attract trailer. I researched  on several game play trailers and I found the one that I really liked, the main reason I find this trailer inspiring is because of the way the cameras are set up as they provide detail of the track and give a first hand experience of  playing  the game.

HUD Research

For teh next step for creating the racing game, we have create a HUD for our vehicle. The first step to approach this is to see what kind of HUD would be suitable  for the car as well as the level. Based on these two elements, I researched on several different models of Jeeps and many SUVs. Following are  some results that i found for references. Being inspired by these, I mad a mock HUD concept. The concept is based on the theme of the level as well as the various HUDs that i looked up online,

Sand Storm Particle Effect !!!!!!!!

For my programming class we have been focusing on making particles!  In the following video you will see the few familiar particles that are shown in UE4 tutorials  and My final sand storm particle that i made from scratch. as informed by the post below.

Particles Refrence and Tutorial!!!!!!!!

Hey guys! For this post, I am excited to announce that I have been learning particles in Unreal Engine 4. And i have to say I have learned alot and enjoyed learning particle this far.  When i first started learning them, I thought they would be complicated, but the statement prooved to be false and was surperised how easy it was to understand them and apply them. After practicing through the tutorials I have learned  all the different types of particles, such as, emitter particle effects, HUD emitter particle effects, Mesh particles, Ribbon particles,  animation curve particles. Anyway, continuing the current assignment, i had to do some research on what kind of a particle do I need to work on and how I can apply that to my other collaborative project of the racing level. And the answer to that was kinda obvious. since i wanted to  have a sand storm in my level, I decided to peruse the sand storm effect. I looked at few real life references and few game ones....
